hi Guys, Can anyone recommend an Electric Impact wrench? I want one that connects to a wall socket rather than battery operated and I would rather electric than air compressor style. Be good to get one powerful enough to undo a stubborn nut. Regards Neil |

I got one from Machine Mart made by Clarke. Excellent bit of kit. Helped a neighbour get wheel nuts off the other day, when he couldn't shift them with a two foot bit of scafold (just bent the brace). Clacky clack clack, all off in seconds. Would love a cordless one, but good ones are way too expensive. |

Get them when they are having a VAT free promo. £54 then or thereabouts. Bought one last month but not had a chance to use it yet. Have an air ine but just wanted something that ment not getting the compressor out etc plus couldn't afford a cordless knowing that the battery would die as I would use it so infrequently. |

I bought a s/h Snap On jobbie off Ebay for about £70, years ago. It had a knackered NiCad battery pack, so I made an adaptor to fit the Lithium 18v batteries my other tools use. It out grunts my compressor fed air tool The rear axle nut on my 1198 is done up to 170ft/lb and can be a bastard even with a 3' breaker bar - it hardly slows down the Snap On jobbie My Dad had a mains fed one (can't remember the make) and it was crap in comparison. I suspect you get what you pay for with thses things. |

I bought a Snap On one with Lithium Ion battery and I have not had to charge in about two years. Used it yesterday on an XB engine to remove gearbox sprocket nut and the two nuts on the primary drive with ease. Snap On man did me a deal, can't remember exactly but he beat the prices that the last five had gone for secondhand on EBay, which had NiCad batteries and not Li Ion. It it tons better than my air windy gun and toy compressor. More expensive than Machine Mart I am sure but if the Machine Mart one does the job then no worries. In all respects I am happy with what I have. |
