I just noticed that all the images of ECMSpy guide are from a linux desktop (so it seems possible to run on linux). I run a virtual machine of windows inside my linux laptop to use ECMSpy. I'd much rather just run the linux version. The guide: http://www.ecmspy.com/ug_mono/V1.1/userguide_mono. shtml isn't very helpful, because it just says "What the heck is Linux?" w/ no other info. Here's an error I get when I run it: lap@top:~/Downloads$ mono EcmSpy_Mono_1.0-Setup.exe Cannot open assembly 'EcmSpy_Mono_1.0-Setup.exe': File does not contain a valid CIL image. I've got the mono runtimes installed and everything. |

There is no installer for Linux available. To run the Mono assembly ( xx_mono.exe) in a native Linux environment, you will have to set it up by your own. This is easily done by copying the required directories and files from the Windows program folder to your Linux environment. You will also need to generate a new key and activate/donate again, as the Windows key will not be transferable and the databases will not work therefore. The yet to release version 1.1 of EcmSpy for Mono will not be made running on a Linux system as easily. Most unfortunately the recent Mono runtime environment version 2.10 did not run properly on a Windows system during my last tests, so unless this gets fixed, the development for Windows might get to a full stop once version 2.6 of the Mono runtime is not available any more. |
