Post subject:  Parts from the US?

Hello,

A while back on the old forum I posted a question about cheaper XB Plastics and someone PM'd me a link to a US site, possibly in Florida where I could purchase plastics and they shipped worldwide, I dont suppose anyone knows the site or dealership or even anywhere else I coudl get cheaper plastics rather than UK dealers which are a little more expensive?

If the guy who orignally pm'd me I would apreciate another PM :D

Cheers

Rob

I have used www.chicagoharley.com and www.lshd1.com before, both ship worldwide, lshd1 gives you a 20% discount automatically but shipping is expensive, then add £15 for each box for Parcel Force to do your customs paperwork, then 20% for VAT and import duty. Couple with that the £ to $ value and you might aswell be looking to use Black Bear or Jersey HD...

On a slight aside - can you get the Free Spirits tensioners cheaper in the US?
My girlfriend's parents live there so can slip it into packages they send her for me, avoiding customs and int'l shipping.

Have used chicagoharley several times. For us Germans it's much cheaper to buy there, even taking the expensive shipping and VAT and custom fares into account. I heard several times now, that shipment took several weeks lately, my own experiences are a bit mixed - sometimes items ship within a week, sometimes it takes more than a month.

I haven't been buying any bits the last couple of years. But I always found CHD very good to deal with. I have bought just about every bit I've needed from them over the years. Sometimes things didn't work out quite as cheap as I had expected but on the whole, no complaints from me about CHD. I guess overall across everything I've been about 20% in profit compared to UK prices (sometimes considerably better than that other times not so good) including all taxes/charges/duties.

Brilliant fellas, exxatly what I was looking for, looking at the posted links the lhd site was the one I remember, but the Jersey HD site looks reasonably priced too!

Because my Blast is an import, I have to get all parts shipped in from the US. I use Chicago Harley and have always found them very helpful. I tried getting bits from the local Harley dealership (Dockgate20) but it worked out so much dearer, and not much quicker. The only time I have paid any extra to customs/parcelforce is when the parts have cost me more than £100. (I bought a standard seat for my bike)

The biggest problem with buying stuff from the States is that it inevitably comes via ParcelFarce - I have never had a successful delivery if they've been the UK delivery agent. I recently had a package go missing in transit from the States - sure enough it was ParcelFarce - claimed to had sent me 2 notifications about duty payment - neither received - and after I had chased them up to sort it out - they screwed up delivery - actually saw the van pull up, push a card through the gate and try to drive off without even trying to see if anybody was there !

Funnily enough Norm, where I stay in Virginia Beach, the female bar staff are all ex Hooters employees. They make more money in a hotel bar than the downtown Hooters, 'cause all the "clientele" in Hooters are young Forces guys who don't know how to tip. Makes for an enjoyable stay. ;)
