my Odyssey Battery on the X1 has started to partially melt
heat transfer from the rear exhaust manifold , causing the top cover to lift
made an ali bracket , which is clear of the terminals ,to hopefully deflect the heat :eat:

Check alternator output, hopefully it's not cooking your battery.....

output is spot on Spen , but proximity to the exhaust is the problem
i think the plastic doesn't like the heat :sad1:
as the X1 battery lies on it's side , so the top is close..ish to the exhaust

T'was just a thought. My X1 battery suffered the same problem, heat related warpage.....

I know a fully trained Harley Davidson 'technician' who fitted a carbon battery cover to his bike which touched both terminals....... then wondered why the battery ruptured...... :o

looking through some old pictures
the original HD battery top sits behind the cross bar
the Odyssey is in front 10mm difference
worth thinking about if you need an X1 battery

Would it be worth making a battery jacket out of heat reflective material ?

Something like this ...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heat-Shield-A ... 1c21e92585

It may help.
