As I don't have the bike here, could some one tell me if a standart X1 exhaust has an "e" mark? Did stuff in 2001 have "e" marks? I think I found a reasonably quiet exhaust to replace the original, but it doesn't have a certificate of conformity, or any e mark. But I'm not sure if I'd need one.  Cheers, Mick.

40 odd views and no one knows? Or have I uspet someone again becuase someone on here makes exhausts?  Anyway, I've found out a 2001 X1 does have an e mark on the silencer. So I guess I'll have to wait untill the Guys get a certificate of complience, unlees I want to swap it every time I take it to ITV. I know everyone says "put an Albert on" but I followed that thread from the start, and they do indeed look nice, but from what I make out from the thread, it would be too noisey for me. (Or rather the Guardia Civil!) In fact I believe someone on here bought one, and took it off and sold it because it was too loud. So it's a Torque Hammer for me. I'll be following the development progress with interest.  TTFN, Mick. |

Oh I don't think it's down to Albert's presence or the protecting of his interests... The vast majority of Tubers don't run standard exhausts (does anyone?) and haven't for years and owners wouldn't recognise an OE one if it jumped out in front of them! Yes it will have a 'e' number and also a Buell part number but then again a lot of aftermarket cans are 'self certificated' by the makers who can put any part numbers they choose on it (as can you if you have a set if stamps) but it means very little and most MoT Testers aren't overly bothered ...if indeed they even know where to look! (you'd need a mirror) Even if they think it's too loud, I believe the official directive is that they have to compare it to a standard example....! And that's one of the joys of Buell ownership, they can't! That's here though. Guess it may be different where you are.... |

 mine has a V&H on it , can't think of anyone who runs a standard one TBHsome of the views are moderators , as we read all the posts , but don't know all the answers

I dont know of any running " standard " pipes .....few modified ones around though

Torque hammer on my 1125 is as loud if not louder than my new shiney stainless albert. TH is also very heavy,albert gave a lot of ground clearance back too. |

Thanks for the comments Guys.  Glad I haven't put my foot in it! I must have a rare beast then, as it's bog standard with the horrid plastic airbox, and huuuge standard muffler! TM have only just started developing this muffler for tubers, so it must be different to the 1125 one, as there's some video of them testing an XB12 one, and to me it seems very quiet. http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/movies.asp?cid=3&aid=136 Or do I need to turn up the volume on my pc?

I think the TM one is a 'Race' muffler so it isn't going to be particularly quiet. I do think it is commendable that TM are supporting the brand with new products. It would be nice to have a one stop shop here in the UK

pash I've had a bit of dialogue with a Guy there named Dris, very helpfull chap, the can will eventually be "e" (and TIV? Must be a Dutch thing) marked and have a cert of compliance, but these things take time, and they'll be selling them without in the beginning. It's not a race muffler, but it will have a removable db killer. They will be making a 2 1/2" collector too. |
