My second exhaust on the Buell 1125R is showing signs of rust and crumbling paint on the solder joints. To say I'm pissed is an understatement. The last one was replaced under warranty. I can't get another replaced the same way. I've tried to look after it with ACF and regular cleaning but it does not seem to make any difference.

I do like the look of the original exhaust as it seems to fill the space below the engine well but not happy with the quality of the paint.

I'm thinking removing it and getting it painted before replacing might be an option to protect it.

Does anyone have any advice, prices, people to contact, etc.?

I'm with you on the looks of the standard can .....they sound ok as well when giving it the berries ......such a shame it wasn't made in stainless.

Having been inside one of these, the rot on the outside is the least of your problems ;)
I tried painting my first one with paint used for coating the inside of jet exhausts, blagged of a mate at RAF Cosford, and that didn't last very well. The best paint I've come across it the 'Tubbs special formula', but I don't think he does it anymore :?
Save yourself recurring grief and have a word with Albert (I did lOl )

What's the normal cost of a replacement stock exhaust as a comparison?

The exhaust on my 1125R was replaced under warranty for the same problem, this one was camcoated to make it last longer - better finish than stock but still looked shabby when I swapped it for exhaust number 3, a Tubbs special - even the finish on this is starting to let the rust get through.

My next exhaust will be an Albert, made from stainless steel, hopefully. Save yourself some money and contact him about getting one made - I'm sure it will pay dividends in the long run, as getting a standard exhaust ceramic coated isn't cheap and will only delay the inevitable rust gremlins.

Got my stock one modified by Tubbs, only goes on bike for track days and long tours, rest of the time it's wrapped up in my garage, this is still looking almost new, the rest of the time I use my Albert :)

Sounds the nuts too
