hi guys, I am picking up my new toy tomorrow (off a fellow forum member). its an 06 model Uly. I am transporting it in a transit van...and I just have a question: Are there any designed point I can use to strap it down and are there any point i should avoid? Any pointers? thx Lars |

Two straps to front, each side on forks above bottom clamp. Two straps on rear, each side on passenger foot rests. Make sure straps are angled away from bike and equally tensioned. Leave bike in gear, drive steady. Does the van have a rear bulkhead? If not wear a crash helmet ![]() |

Go to your local HDB shop and ask for some tie downs, every bike comes with a pair and they normally get trashed. Can be kinder to your bike than ones with hooks... |

Maz wrote: NEVER transport a bike with its sidestand down ![]() hi Maz, so you mean i should just tie it down holding it upright from all sites? not on the stand? whould a paddock stand be of any help??? PS: i think you know this bike as you have done the services etc on it... |

No paddock stand. If you have a bulkhead/seatbox whatever in the van, try and get the front wheel up against it. With the bike on its stand, put the left hand strap on so it has no slack but not tight. Then pull the bike upright with the right hand straps, front suspension only needs to be compressed around an inch. Kick the stand up, select 1st gear and tie the front brake off (I use the spare tail of the ratchet strap for this) then fit the rear straps. |

We use a couple of these in the trailer and in the van...... v useful.... I've made one of those from some scrap material. Holds the bike by the front wheel and straps are only needed for peace of mind. Essential kit if you own a 1125 since it's the only sensible way to hold the bike for the very complicated and inaccurate oil level checks. Much better than the prototype Harris one they were going to produce for the 1125 ![]() |
