Post subject: | M2 questions - S1 seat? |
Hello I am new to the world of Buell and I am on a promise. My mate has loaned me his bike as long as I customise it. Basically he wants an S1 seat on an M2 and a different set of bars. I have looked around a bit and I have a couple of (dumb) questions. What is the difference between a skinny and a lardy M2? Are the frames / subframes on the tube bikes the same? Can I simply bolt an S1 seat onto an M2? What flat wide handlebars can I fit that will still clear the tank without having to change the clutch cable, electrics etc etc Thanks Mark |

You'll have to cut and weld the frame to fit the S1 rear. I think there may be some photos of mine somewhere in the archive. |

Why not put the seat off an earlier M2 on? No cutting needed. |

Something to think about - IIRC (Millsy?) One of the members on here did an outstanding job of fitting the thinner style seat in such a way that he could easily convert back within ~30 mins to the "lardass" style seat with Ventura kit for touring with pillion - which gives you the best of both worlds ![]() |

I still don't get why you would customise a motorcycle that you are only borrowing ![]() |

Surely loaning it on the agreement that he customises it means .... spend some money, time and effort in making it different but you cant keep it, you can only borrow it ... ![]() |
