This is a bit sad, but I've just found my first big bike (suzuki GT 185 Reg DDO 555 T) its still alive! and I'm determined to buy it.
When I sold it, the old girl had just 6500 miles on it in 1983. In 2013 it has just 15765 miles and still the original engine. And, and, it still flippin runs! So excited its too sad :D

Tomorow I may know if I have got it, but the old girl has moved from Leicester to Barnsley!

useless bit of info, but its good to relive those old days. Just need to find the old royal enfield continental now lol

Mine was a C10L (if I don't count my Puch M50 GP moped), and I sold the number plate for more than the bike (25 BTF) :P

Funnily enough, I called into Scorpion Exhaust's place in Ripley, Derbyshire today. In the showroom the have a Continental GT. Looked lovely. I thought it may have been my old one, but it wasn't. It had HH in the reg. I think.
Mine was JDH 12D.(1966)

My first motorised bike ever was a 1972 BMW R60/5. I needed a calendar to measure its acceleration, the drum brakes were of the "nothing-or-all-at-once" type, the suspension felt like a soggy mattress and when rain was falling from the sky then most of that was guaranteed to end up in the carburettor-bowls ("to Bing or not to Bing, that is hardly a question" lOl ). Still, if I found it up for sale I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up. Mind, if it's still alive and in reasonable condition then it's possibly worth more than when it was new.

TBH I have always thought it is better just to have 'fond' memories of things like that.

Revisiting is often a disappointment........

Just leave the rose tinted specs on.
