Bought some of these Chazzos (Chinese Pazzos:) levers for my Ducati 916 and have to say that for £23 they are very good.

Have Pazzos on the XB which cost £140 for the pair and there is not that much difference.....

Is it still bling when you pay less for bling levers than you pay for stock ones? just a thought.

I make a set of billet ali rear wheel adjusters for rgv250 suzukis (vj22), they are a very high quality items which look better, work better, last longer and weigh less than the stock items which are vile.
I got an order for a set to be shipped to china and guess what, 2 months later they were being punted out on ebay at half the price (my price is very reasonable I must add), they probably don't even know what an rgv250 is in China but my point is, how long do you think people like me will be interested in designing this stuff when its just going to get ripped off?

It is such a shame that this happens ................it is one thing making and selling something cheaper that is their own take on a product ............ie I bought some chinese levers which as far as i'm aware aren't a copy of somebody elses design as they are the only folding levers with adjustable blade lengths i've seen. But like you say to buy your product that you spent time developing and making a direct copy using cheaper labour is one of the big problems with the internet age.

But whats to stop people designing their product and then getting it made over there? Especially in these days of the internet design it on Pro Engineer or whatever then get them to make it. They will of course get it ripped off and sold straight out of the factory. This has even happened to suzuki for the 09 plus GSXR 1000 you can get plain black rims from china for £200 shipped. If you look at this wheel it is a very light wheel and would be a hell of a tooling investment it must be coming from the OEM supplier.

We sell software to china on the back of huge industrial saws. So far we haven't seen it pirated but it will happen

However a word of caution to any one thinking of going this route. About 15 years ago I was involved in the design and manufacturer of a small handheld electronic device. We needed a rubber membrane keypad made and in the quantities we were talking about it was much cheaper to get it made in china. We had designed the casing and keyboard in pro engineer and had rapid prototype cases and keypads made which were sent to china along with the pro-engineer files as well as a set of drawings that they requested as well. The fascia of the top casing had holes in it for the keypad to come through and four of the buttons were in a "points of the compass" arrangement like a game pad if you like.
When the first batch of 20,000 came I unwrapped the first box and imagine my horror when the directional arrows had been made in a crucifix layout and wouldn't fit into the casings. Phoned the supplier up and went mad why had they not realised something was wrong with the rapid prototypes we sent as well as the files and drawings. Their answer was that they had followed the dimensions given in the drawings we had sent. Checking the drawings and there was one mistake in a dimension that someone had manually amended and rather than question it they just followed it blindly without thinking that anything was amiss. Lesson learned unless you have people out there checking everything get it made here.

I agree with you in principal, but in reality it is a different veiwpoint.
I was in contact with one company in China a few years back and bought some stock from them (High Cube 40ft container full) They told me that if I was to see anything in the UK that I wanted copying, they would do it for me.....Absolutely anything!

I now deal with two different Chinese companies and play them off against each other on pricing, to get a better deal on lead times, as the costs of the product are negligeable
May seem mercenary, but I am the one sat in the sunshine, with not a care in the world.....I sleep nights too :yup: :sun:

I didn't say don't do it and I agree with what you say and to a degree I have done it myself (not ripped designs) and had products manufactured in Malaysia, its cheaper for me to make them here now.

I struggle to see what our future holds, we are a shop window for products from the pacific basin and we can buy them because we still live in a quite rich society but how can that go on when we do f**kall? it can't and there is no way all these orientals aren't going to want not just a bite but all of our cherry, its human nature.
When I cast my mind back the decline of our manufacturing has been as fast as their climb and it has been no time, 10 years and there will be tumbleweed rolling along our streets.
Just my opinion of course.

Yer bang on the money....I was an apprentice at Metro Vicks/GEC Trafford park in the early 80`s....It truly was an amazing place to be, even went to Trafford college to do the brainy bits.....Alas, I quadroupled my wages by going down to London and washing up for a living(Commis Chef)......The writing was on the wall back then :(
I have no idea where it is all going to end up, but then that is the fun of the ride.....As I now know that life is just a ride and you hop on the ride that offers the most thrills/money. May seem a bit shallow, but that is the way of the World right now, I wish it were different, as we could discover so much more and do so much more if we were more focused and not money orientated......But to be totally honest, I hitch a ride whenever I can.....So far it has been fun, but I am also aware that we are all on a hiding to nothing :( We all need to grow up, if you know what I mean.
