Probably, but I really wouldn't. There are filters and there are filters, some good, some not so. For eg, all the top Subaru fettlers tell you to use the factory blue filters as opposed to the factory black filters, because the black one has a cardboard (or something like that lOl ) valve inside while the blue one has a plastic valve.
Stick with the OEM ones, for peace of mind ;)

Other issue is thread size, metric vs imperial, you could get a metric one that 'fits' but actually unscrews and covers your right foot with oil. If you don't notice this, you could slip up when you get off the bike...

An interesting read, if you're into that sort of thing.

Hmm, just checked this thread out...

I know that the filter on an S1 is big and the filter on a Firebolt is small, however I have a look on the chart and I see that for an S1 the filter is a [3] but the Firebolt filter is a PH4967... So I do a search on the page for PH4967 and I see that some Kawasakis have it etc. etc. and then it is also the part number for a Fram in table [3].

That doesn't make sense...

So, more digging and I find this....

http://www.oilfiltersonline.com/PH4967- ... Oil-Filter

Which looks good until you see it fits an 1125R, and as an ex-owner I know very well that they use a paper element filter...

Think the underlying message here is to stick to the genuine filters...

Isn't the bsa's oil filter just an air brick, like what you use to vent a cavity wall lOl
