So, what do you guys use for cleaning your Buell? I currently wash with car shampoo, and scrub the engine bits with same but use a scrubbing brush and toothbrush. How are the tank, flyscreen and mudguard finished? Seems like coloured plastic to me, so you wouldn't use any wax or anything? My bike looks pretty good after a wash, but there is a lot of road dirt on the engine where it sits behind the front wheel. How'd you get that off? I've tried scrubbing it, even a bit of white spirit, but nada. |

Beer is good. You sit in front of your bike in a sunny spot then drink beer until it looks better ![]() Don't ride it until the next day |

I recently discovered engine degrease stuff - very impressive. Go to a farm out let and get big cans cheap. And the polish wool stuff you use for rubbing up your silverware ![]() otherwise water (cold as hot forces salt deeper into the metal) an soap. or there again you could sub contract ![]() |

Go out , buy yourself a decent long handled paintbrush (half inch) and a tin of gunk.... paint it all over (er.....except the brakes and wheel bearings)... rinse it off....(NOT powerwash) . Dry it all down with a decent chamy leather, and use back to black aerosol on the plastic bits. Works a treat for me...... Been using Gunk on my bikes since 1978...it really is the dogs bollox..... ![]() |

Better bet, get to a horse-place, they'll have brushes for oiling hooves made entirely from plastic. Much lower chance to causing damage and they are under a quid. |

Personnally i find using tinned car polish (turtlewax) and a rag is great for removing/breaking up road tar etc, added to that ive always used armourall spray on polish for metal/glass/plastics etc. works a treat. ![]() |

I forgot to say i wrap duct tape around the metal bits to prevent any scratches ![]() |
