Has anyone on here bought the "Uprated" isolaters from American Torque?
If so, how are they?

Cheers,
Mick.

Centre hole is smaller, bolt is supplied but will have an unacceptable (IMHO) clearance inside your front engine mount.

Many have reamed the hole out to take the original bolt.

Badweb posters report lower vibes, but this is probably more to do with the previous isolator being fooked.

Thanks. That was a lot of reading :ill:
You summed it up with "Many have reamed the hole out to take the original bolt"
That was apparently all I needed to know! lOl

I think my bike needs them, as the clocks are trying to jump off the bike when the bike's ticking over and walking backwards down the driveway on its sidestand!

TBH I'd already ordered them. ;) Billet front mount next on the list.
I'll order some more for spares if they turn out to be quality.

Cheers,
Mick.

You'll probably find the clocks still try to jump off the bike and the bike will still walk backwards when ticking over ;) ................... they all do that sir ;)

Might have been cheaper to buy from Black Bear...

I paid $131 (about 100€) including postage to Spain, for the front mount, and a set of rears.
Are they cheaper than that at Black Bear? And would they be the "Uprated" Buell ones, or the HD 1200 sporster ones?
From reading between all the crap on BWB's I understand the uprated Buell ones are made with a stiffer rubber compound..... :eat:

It's normal for these bikes to try and shake themselves to pieces then?

Regards,
Mick.

Post subject:  Re: Isolators.

They shake at tickover but don't shake themselves to pieces .................the only part i've lost off my X1 was the taxdisc holder and that was only because the bracket broke where it had been bent backwards and forwards by the dealer to remove the oil filter........the only other vibration damage was the race header front mount shoe that cracked but that was because they didn't sit flush against the exhaust correctly (cured that with a maz front exhaust mount).
If you stand and watch the bike from the side when it ticks over the engine basically sits still and the bike shakes around it to the extent the front tyre looks like it's going to lift off the floor lOl ....the shake is totally unnoticable whilst riding though 8-)

Thanks for the replies.
I asume I have to telephone Black Bear to get Buell parts.
Would they be the best people to supply a belt?

Regards,
Mick.

Yeah, Steve wouldn't let the Parts Manager complete the course in mind reading, as it was too expensive. ;) lOl

You could always e-mail me on info@blackbear.co.uk and I'll make sure it's acted on. Some people send me PMs but I often pick those up out of working hours and have been known to forget them for a day or two :oooops:

We are idle bastards though so we're always closed on Sundays, Mondays and all Bank Holidays. Back at work on Wednesday then :-)
