Has anyone lowered the seat height on an x1 lightning? I love the bike, but being short in the leg,find the seat a bit tall. Have lowered a Triumph speed triple by replacing shock and dropin forks . Found bike still handles well,and is easier to manage . If same could be done with x1,I would be interested . So any ideas, all you engineer types out there. Target of approx 25 to40mm, lower[is it feasible].Or am i just nuts? What do you think Maz?

I've got a Corbin seat on my x1. It's no more comfy than a std one and holds yer arse in place so you can't weight shift, but apart from that, it's very low. Mrs Adam (5'4") has no problems riding it and can get both feet flat on the ground
The seat base is no lower than std, so get yours sorted

Wow ...you must be a shortarse if you can't reach the floor on an X1 standard seat is so narrow they seem far lower than the XB's or 1125's.

Platform shoes ? Worked wonders for Elton John , especially those with goldfish swimming in the heels.

As Pash said i lowered my X1 due to my dissability, i made an adjustable front shock mount.
i also dropped the forks about 3/4",
Handling is still fine (for my riding style) but i do drag the foot pegs on the floor when cornering a set of rear sets would solve that problem.

Interesting comments. Martinwills modified front mounting is brilliant. I am a bit of a shortarse, but at 5ft 5ins can manage at a stretch The bike manufactures have always been poor in equiping bikes with adjustable kit and lack of security. They seem to think everyone is 6ft plus .How many cars would sell with fixed seating positions,non adjustable,steering etc.Anyway,its good the x1 is fairly slim.The adjustable bracket shown i assume could also work the other way to increase ride heugt for those who wished. Good idea.....?

I think you would be suprised by how few bikes are designed for 6' + riders.
Don't lower it, it looks shit, start with the seat, it will be by far the cheapest option.
