I'v got an xb9 s & love every time I get out on it but I do only go for a scratch around good cornering roads for around 80 mile a time as I get cramped up in my legs & hips! I'm now considering a cheepish Buell xt 1200 to do some longer rides & camping trips up Oliver's mount , what I'm asking here , has anybody here got both bikes & is there a lot of diference between riding the two & what the xb's like as I haven't been on one yet? I had to go for a Ulysses (X) as my back meant that I needed a more upright seating position. If you're over 5'9"-ish, then a Uly with low seat its gonna be fine, OR the XTs are lower than the Ulys anyway. It's easy enough to have one of the taller/original Uly seats seat to make it lower than stock (or buy a low seat) but for me I went the whole hog and did my Bomber conversion - Lightning tail piece on the stock Ulysses' seat rails with a Lightning seat. It gives you the best of both worlds - much more comfy for longer rides, but basically looks like a taller (cooler!) XB9/12S Which ever way you go, they are definitely a different riding experience - less lean-over-cornering/knee down, more adventure-bike/supermoto-stance... But just as fun! |

Ive got the XB12XT i'm 5ft8" and it's the most comfortable bike i've ever ridden. For me, 250 miles a day is fine with the bike completely standard, if I'm doing more I use an Airhawk seat - ride all day long! Two up comfort is good - the missus doesn't moan at 400 miles!!! |

I got the taller X, I am 5'7". Me and the missus and full up luggage did 850km the other day including crossing the Pyranees. Very comfortable and the missus can lean back on the Triple Tail thing and watch the world go by... |

That's OK then, there's a lot of folk on here in that neck of the woods Funny that, I asked the exact same question, which was "bearing in mind i can't find an xb12xt, Ulysses as im a short arse does anyone have one i can have a shortish go on, bearing in mind i can get insurance cover for any bike at the literal drop of a hat. needless to say I was stunned by the amount of offers i DIDNT GET, I'm 45 and been riding bikes big and small since i was 12, but not even a sniff at a go on one. there is one im am looking at but its a few hundred miles away, so seems a shame to ride all that way if it aint for me. Even though im sure it would be, well almost. So does anyone have a XB12XT Uly that i can have a go on, even a sit on and start up would be better than bugger all. ta for your help all. Mark. |

Yes same here, I'm in Nottingham & could get fully comp cover with a reg no. If any one could help out with a test ride they can have a blast on my xb9s at the same time If there full comp! I'm not around till Sept if any one's offering? |

Not exactly local to you darn sarf but our local Guzzi dealer, Moto Strada in Shipley, West Yorks, has/had an XT for sale - details here Tell them Chris & Jane Jessop sent you  ....we're not on commission, just satisfied customers...

Bill. you are to be commended for your bravery and "CAN DO" attitude. What a bloody small world this is. I used to work at DERA Chertsey and know the area a bit. Would you mind if I had a go on yours??? I can literally get insurance at about ten minutes notice, all it would require is your registration number and bobs yer mothers brother. Im in Blackwater Near Camberley, so not millions of miles between us. If we can make some arrangement at a time and date to suit you then that would be fantastic. BTW is yours an xb12xt Uly or something slightly different to that??? Thanks for taking the time to reply. You Sir have just made my night ..... |
