A friend of mine slid his XB12 scg down the road last year due to we think locking the front brake when slowing for a corner, the R & G crash bobbins on the forks and swinging arm saved those areas from damage, the frame puk was a little ground away but saved the frame.

The puk has not been replaced and the frame looks ok, the main impact was taken by the seat when the bike slid on its side into a steel road sign post bursting the seat cover and foam and bending the seat rails, the shock was also bent I guess it must have compressed with the impact then over extened as it bounced back with no weight on it as the bike was on its side.
He has replaced all the parts and done a few hundred miles on it and apart from a few scratches all seems ok.

90% of the pucks I've replaced have revealed a caved in frame behind them......no evidence of damage until the puck is removed

Have a look at eBay item 220671245831

I helped the guy develop them, that is my old 1125 in the photo. Those bobbins are now in my Uly, fit well and are reasonably priced.

I think the frame puk was not that damaged because initially he was still on the bike as it slid down the road this cushioned the impact when it hit the deck. His leg, shoulder, boots, jacket, trousers and gloves took most it, this kept the bike off the tarmac and limited the sliding damage, luckily he had parted company with it by the time it hit the post. He managed to walk away with just bruising shows the benefit of decent gear.
Will have a look at those eBay items and tell him to have a good look at the frame, thanks for the replies.

I use all three of the R&G protectors, the main frame protectors fasten just under fork yoke, they come out a fair way, easy to fit, and the fork and swing arm sliders fit in two mins, hope this helps
