As the title suggests - if the bike's front wheel runs into something straight-on, what will give out first? I'd imagine/hope forks, but wanted to check likelihood of damage elsewhere, particularly in the headstock.

Yes I did, no I don't want to go into details. :coat:

Thanks.

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember that the headstock was designed to be a weak(er) spot, possibly to act like a crumple zone. In any case, it would be wise to strip the bike and check for visible cracks. The consequences of not doing so don't bear thinking about :o

Sorry :oooops: I'm sure you didn't want to hear this :couch:

A mate of mine bent his forks by bumping his garden gate open with his wheel, he had to hit it hard enough to make the latch lift but still not a lot.

Check everything, your frame is a fuel cell for a start.

Sadly - I think you really need to look at the frame. Cast aluminium and short sharp shocks do not go well together.

From experience....the rider!
.
Seriously, as the others have said, get everything checked...your life may depend on it

Wow, that's proper quality fencing that :o lOl

It's true though, forks bend relatively easily.
Apart from being cheap to produce, offering long suspension travel (for those very few that need it) and pleasing the in general hopelessly conservative taste of bikers, telescopic forks are a pretty awful and out of date design :x

Sounds like the chap who was using his bike to break into people's gardens.....

...... when he was arrested he asked for seven other fences to be taken into consideration.....
