Post subject:  Firebolt headlamp recall - what's replaced?

Haven't got round to putting my bike in for the recall fix yet, as I never ride the Buell at night, so it's not too much of an issue.

I noticed today that the two plastic retainers that hold the lenses in have cracked. I reckon the high beam lens would of popped out if I hit a speed bump! Just wanted to check if anyone knows whether these are replaced under the recall, or will I have to order some new ones separately?

I haven't actually got a Firebolt but bolted on its front fairing to my SV650. It actually came out looking rather great IMO. Only problem is the lights suck. On dismantling the headlights I found that the reflectors turned black presumably from the heat generated by the bulbs. I haven't got a chassis number of course as I bought the fairing second-hand. Any suggestions as to how I could get a way to remedy my situation? I'm afraid to ride at night, it's that bad.http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v3883/76/80/1079155957/n1079155957_30421661_5259967.jpg

Damned sweet looked there, Zunk. It would be nice to come under the heading of "Wot Buell did next". 8-)

I doubt if you'll have any luck getting the lights on a recall notice, though, as there is no direct link between you and Buell and I doubt they will admit to much liability.

i have temporarily lined the dipped headlight lamp with kitchen foil, seems to have worked, but then again its not back on the road yet, i have to get it down the mot station to see if they think the light is bright enough yet.
you could have quite a wait for a replacem, ent lamp
