Good grief. I picked up a new seat for my X1 on e-bay. My thought was to have the one in better shape to remain stock and to have a seat guy make the other into something more comfortable. Here's the problem. The new on is nicer than mine, so I put it on. Now it won't come off. Any thoughts before I do something else foolish? |

When I bought my X1 and tried to take the seat off, it wouldn't budge. They have to be be quite flexible and bendy to be encouraged off. Maybe the newly upholstered seat doesn't have as much 'give'? |

Wouldn't really care if my "papers" weren't under there. Oh well, I will give it a go in the spring. |

How hard it is to remove could depend on how easy it is, on your bike, to get behind the seat lock.Under the ally sub frame on mine i have a homemade ally plate with the cable from the catch just hanging down , one pull and it's off , ooh err mrs . |

Try pushing down hard on the back of the seat while you turn the key? |

Looking at the old seat, I see the pin that engages the lock is adjustable. How important is that? I ask because I am sure this has happened to someone! |

There are two bits to this: 1. When you turn the key, can you release the retaining spike? Mickrick is on the money with a fix for this 2. When the pin is released, can you lift the seat? This is a case of wiggling the rear till you get it off. Are you 1. or 2. ? |

Hopefully if you could apply enough pressure to get the latch to go in far enough to engage you'll also be able to apply enough pressure to allow it to clear the latch when the key is turned. |

The seat is not "seated" as low as mine would be. The key turns smoothly and peeking under the seat I can see the cable pulling. I tried prying and sitting on the seat while turning the key. Perhaps I will need a helper to push/pull/wiggle. Neither 1 or 2 seem to describe it Pash. On the bright side I finally got the 14.5 mount installed so I can use the Works shock I had rebuilt. I had the mount, but didn't realize how much differently the new mounts "mounted". I should have ponied up for the kit. |
