Took the bike out today for the first time in about two months. The low fuel light came on, and I eventually found a garage. The bike (XB12SX) then wouldn't start. The dials flipped, it made all the right whirring noises, but nuffink. Eventually, it started, ran fine, and I got home OK. At home, needed to start it again, and once more, nuffink. During the bad weather, each week, from early December until last week, I used to fire it up and let it run for ten minutes and put it away again, but I did give it a good long charge last weekend. So, I've got a dead bike. Any ideas? Oh yeah, as I was riding to the garage to refuell, I felt something hit my foot. Turns out it was the tax disc holder, with lots of lovely tax on it. Can I ask the DVLA for a replacement? |

Maybe not related to your problem but never ever just run your bike in the winter for just a few minutes ....it does far more harm than good causing condensation to form in both the engine oil and also the exhaust system ....far better to leave it without running at all and use something like an optimate to keep the battery topped up unless you are going to ride it up to full operating temp. Lots of people have had issues with fouled plugs due to this which aren't that easy to remove on an XB. Sounds like you have probably got a relay issue somewhere. |

Yes undeed it could be the starter relay, my X1 had a similar problem. Upon investigation it seemed that items stored under the seat and loosened the connection. Good luck.......

Thanks for your help guys. Maybe I did disturb something when I took the seat off. I thought I was helping the bike by firing it up every week. Trouble is, I don't have any power in my garage because of the way my house lies next to my neighbours. I'll just have to move! Thanks again for your advice, and I'll take another look.
