The rear brake pedal on my 2001 model M2 bends in slightly. It looks like its a cast aluminium jobby. Can they be straightened? If so, do you need gentle heat to help it along? Or is it a case of buying a new one :(

I would get a new one. The last thing you want is to put a crack in it that results in the pedal breaking when you want to stop. You may not rely on your back brake too much but if the pedal breaks when you are relying on it, it could be enough to induce panic.

Fair enough Pash, thanks. Anyone got one to sell or have a price for a new one? There's a couple in the states on eBay but they are not exactly cheap once you add in postage and stuff.

They work very well ....I had the Motrax version of one of those on Muffin for months lOl well until it fell off one day but then again it was only supposed to be used to get me home and not to use for about 3000 miles lOl

Thanks, looks a useful bit of kit but no good for my problem...the main shaft on mine is bent....imagine the bend in the shaft nearest the toepeg being too bent..or the bend nearest the pivot not bent enough....(or a combination of the two) so that the toe piece is too far in with the end of it pointing slightly forward.....that's my brake pedal that is... :D

Ok I'll stick my neck out and say I had the same. problem with mine after it toppled over on my drive and I did heat it gently with a gas blow torch all the time keeping a gentle pressure on it until it starts to move, mines ok still after 2yrs

Straightened mine using a hydraulic press at work, gently did it

Buoyed on by others successes, I have managed to straighten mine with a little gentl persuasion. It wasn't very bent so didn't need a great deal of persuading......Pash is right, a new one would be the ideal but it seems to have responded well ;)
