Managed a couple of hours bonding with Warhorse last night.
Look what I found when I pulled the gearbox plug to drop the oil.....

When was the last time the oil was changed?

Well according to a hand scrawled reciept for a "full service", just before I bought it.

But I suspect more than likely never, seeing as the new plugs that where also fitted during this "full service" weren't new, both where different, and neither where the right one.

I also suspect that little lot of scrap is 12,600 miles of the oil pump drive gear that's about to be changed. I hope so anyway. :)

I'll dig the receipt out when I get chance, and see who the reputable establishment was. :run:
Although there is some record of servicing with a Harley dealer somewhere, for what it's worth.

I'll change the oil again after a short run, and see if there's any more.

Warhorse was a lucky horse the day I found her. Poor poor mistreated mare.

That debris is all from within the transmission not the engine ................they are two totally seperate lubrication systems remember ;)

So, that is the primary oil drain plug. The oil pump gear is not rubning in that oil.
