Managed a couple of hours bonding with Warhorse last night.
Look what I found when I pulled the gearbox plug to drop the oil.....

When was the last time the oil was changed?

Well according to a hand scrawled reciept for a "full service", just before I bought it.

But I suspect more than likely never, seeing as the new plugs that where also fitted during this "full service" weren't new, both where different, and neither where the right one.

I also suspect that little lot of scrap is 12,600 miles of the oil pump drive gear that's about to be changed. I hope so anyway.

I'll dig the receipt out when I get chance, and see who the reputable establishment was.
Although there is some record of servicing with a Harley dealer somewhere, for what it's worth.

I'll change the oil again after a short run, and see if there's any more.

Warhorse was a lucky horse the day I found her. Poor poor mistreated mare.

That debris is all from within the transmission not the engine ................they are two totally seperate lubrication systems remember

So, that is the primary oil drain plug. The oil pump gear is not rubning in that oil.
