What would happen if a pint more gear oil was put in the box?

Any comments ?

Nate.

No big deal to drain some out though :)

Thing I was wondering was would some more oil maybe less than a pint help them poor oil striken needles on the output shaft any?
Have HD/Buell got the box capacity wrong as in a Buell gets far more thrash than a Harley, would some more oil in there create more splashing/ vapour that may get to that region a little better?

excess oil can lead to more lubrication problems not less as the oil will get frothed up causing pressurisation and oil loss from breathers or blown gaskets and seals......maybe would lube the needles as it was being blown out though lol
:D :D

Would make absolutely no difference to the outboard needle bearing but would lube the rear tyre nicely

Yep, usually caused by a failed crank seal......doesn't take much oil to overfill the trans and the oil will spew out of the breather.

Problem with the outboard needle bearing is that oil is centrifuged away by 5th pinion.

Yep, you showed me that afternoon you carelessly left the bonnet up on your new van!
I enjoyed that afternoon.

Oh well that rules out that thought, cheers anyway.
