Hi all, just had an eventful run to see my brother back in Wales. Just outside Cardiff and about 4 miles to go and Ping! my belt went. Thankfully it was just off the motorway and did not leave me stranded out in the fast lane. I've been recovered to Bro's place by the trusty RAC, but now need to source a belt for my XB12R as near to Cardiff as possible. I'm guessing Bristol Harley may be my only option, but do any of you Welsh Buellers know of anywhere else that may have one in stock?
All advice greatfully recieved.

The job looks do-able to me with the wheel on the bike assuming I can remove the swing-arm brace bolts, or am I being wildly optimistic????

Thanks in advance All,

Si.

By the way, for those interested, its an XB12R, 12390 miles, Free spirits fitted at about 7k. No obvious damage to the belt about 3 days ago (I checked). The black coating on teeth of the rear sprocket has always been "chipped" sisnce I've had it, but there's no stuctural damage to the teeth themselves. Maybe this was a factor. And yes, at the risk of tempting fate, :o this is the only thing to go wrong in over 10k miles. Apart from a headlamp bulb.... :sun:

There's a machine shop in S.Wales that specialises in Ha*leys, maybe he's got a belt for an XB. Can't remember the name but it 'Matts' something or other. Get your brother to Google it.

Thanks Guys,
Managed to track a belt down in Riders in Bristol. (Nice chaps). Fantastic telephone assistance from our man Tubbs (Cheers Mate!) and I'm all up and running. Sat back in Poole now after a further run up to Swansea and then the trip home. All seems to be well. 8-)

Tubbs, Took your advice on oversizing the holes on the FS, my Bro has a pillar drill. Seem to have a bit of play now, but I'll pop up for some pads and an oil change, (yup 2.5K already!) and let you give it the once over.

The guys at Riders (Gerry) told me that "ALL" harley parts come with a 2 year warranty so if I have a problem with the belt in that time that it should be replaced....

Cheers again,

Si.

Sorry to hear of your woes Si. Did you get a lump of coal stuck in the belt?

Allo Si
All's good. Work's been getting in the way of my social life! Had a good weekend up at East Kirby tho.
Good to see you're getting about on the bike, albeit with a slight hiccough. Where's the summer?
