Problem

1. Bike started sounding"loud" from trans-engine after just making it to gas station yesterday
2. continued sounding alot on the way home
3. on the way to work did not run well in the lower revs and stuttered and died, manage too start it again but then just died
4. when I attempt to start it it just sounds like a jet motor, no ignition what-so-ever
5. Have noticed before it died that there is was a considerate increase in the smell of petrol when starting too

I have recently added fuel injection cleaner when trying to resolve a problem that turned out too be the 02 sensor so one of the guy's I work with rekons its clogged injectors.

Does anybody recognize this problem?

I have also put in new sparkplugs, hats and a racemap for the bike but it's run great after that.

Thanks for all and any help

/Michael

Drain it and stick new plugs in.

Throw a match in your tank. If it's diesel, it won't burn ;)

And, if it's not diesel?

Well, that's probably the solution either way then.

Have you confirmed that it is diseasel yet, ist? Before lobbing a match in, tempting as it is, I'd check the receipt or give it a sniff.

Depending on how much petrol was left in the tank, it is possible that the engine will run, as the fuel system will be 100% petrol when you start it at the pumps, but you won't be able to start it once the petrol / diesel mix has got through. (Don't ask me how I know. ;) )

If it's not diesel, then you will have diagnosed another problem ;)

Not diesel...have checked reciept, sniff test and set a small rag dipped in the tank on fire ( that part was fun!!)

...so back to square one...any other suggestions?

and I´m considering "lobbing" in a match in the tank....this bike has more issues than my ex*!!

Does the fuel pump run when the key is turned to on?

Nate.

You will know if diesel is in the fuel as it won't completly vap off when some is put on a hard surface.

Talking about filling up with diesel! Last week filling the works truck up a bird pulls up on a Ducati Monster 600. Whilst talking to her I forgot to put the cap back on and would drove of spilling diesel everywhere :ill: had she not told me!

Any way I asked how goes it her bike to which she said great except for when it rains! I asked why and she told me after it rains she has to take to have it's carbs drained. FFS I thought and told her it sounds like the filler drain is bloked and letting water in the tank every time you open it to which she comfirmed the filler does hold water!

Soooo is your filler drain draining??

N.
