I looked at doing that and decided against. The challenge was the oil tank preventing mounting in new bosses on to the frame and routing oil lines. Not totally insurmountable but if going for welding in new bits, I decided an alternative look to the X1 rear was more appealing. So went for an alternative solution which still means fabricating a new oil tank in ally. The pic below was just playing around before a q formed to buy the subframe on febay.

Well iv decided to find they old m2 seat and rear so still m2 but pre 99 look , narrow one ,does anyone know if this will fit 2001 m2 ?

IIRC - one of the forum members created a superb version of what you are attempting - MILLSY - he ended up with the thin sexy seat - for posing ;) ......but could quickly interchange with the "lardarse" ie: very comfortable seat fitted with a Ventura system for touring two up - so the best of both worlds and on a 2001 M2 - makes a highly versatile bike even more so :yup:

That thin seat will break your arse on any journey further than the local chippy. :shock:

Oddly enough, I found mine was quite comfortable, did a 1,500 km trip on it with no pain at all :P
