HI can any body be kind enough tell me how to tell the difference between an 07 and 08 xb12scg . Now i no this sounds dumb but mine has 07 on frame and 08 reg . when people refer to 08 bike for ie resting tps and so on is it reg or frame number ? please help thankyou

The tenth digit of the VIN stamped on the frame is the model year - it will be 7 for 2007 or 8 for 2008.

+ a 2008 will have the new style cam cover .

Thank you all for your help now i have looked on my frame and it said date manufactured JUL 07 AND the tenth letter of the chassis no is 8 and reg is 08 (confused still ) any feed back please.

It's a 2008 model built in July 2007 - most manufacturers will start building next years bikes in the previous year.

finaly an 08 bike it is then many thanks for you help with this matter

No..................an '07 bike manufactured in '07
may have left the factory in 08

Stop trying to frighten the man, he say's that the tenth digit (model year or MY) of the VIN is an 8, signifying it's a 2008 model ...

... date of manufacture does not necessarily signify MY !

Just trying to point out that there are major differences between 07 and 08 engines
