Hi, to any other 1125R owners out there. I've recently taken delivery of my second 1125R (I managed to write off the first one after a week! Someone binned a Ducati in my path) and I have a few niggles. Both bikes give noise of the drive belt on the overrun at low speed, 25 - 30 mph but this one's worse than the first and getting worse - anybody else experienced this? what's the reason/cure? For anyone that has had theirs a while, have you changed from the standard exhaust? if so, what did you choose and how happy are you with it? Thanks - look forward to an 1125R run-out some time? |

im not far from you... 15-20 miles.... Cant say I've noticed any drive belt noise but I will listen out on the commute home tonight.... Still on the standard can so cant comment on that question.... |

I'm having a custom pipe made for mine, so the Remus that's fitted at the moment will be up for sale fairly soon. |

Thanks Guys, I may try to organise a rideout sometime. How about the rear brake! anybody found a way of making that work other than dropping a bag of sand on the pedal? P.S. I do love this bike, despite my comments! Having paid for my ducati 3 times over just to keep it going I needed a change - to something better! |

Welcome, Andrew, glad you are loving the bike. Rear brakes on Buells have been like that pretty much since Erik first stuck his name on the tank. I have always been able to lock the rear tyre on a Buell, though, and I reckon that makes it good enough. |

Either you've got legs like a buffalo or shi**y roads out your way - I could literally stand up on mine and you wouldn't lock the wheel! |

My rear brake is fantastic and I suspect it's no more efficient than yours. I wish the brake brake was far less powerful on my TR Yam. The Buell rear is great around town and not powerful enough to lock the rear lock the rear under very heavy braking when most of the bikes weight is tranfered to the front wheel. It's also very good for 'squatting' the rear when you trail brake into a bend to compensate for the fork compression. Now, if I could get rid of that stupid Perimeter Rim disc on the front (which I've already cooked once in my favourite twisties) then I'd be happier Bunny. Have you checked that the very poorly designed pivot on the pedal isn't binding? |

Drive belt noise? - It's tricky to get my head down there whilst it's happening, but I'm pretty sure that's where it's coming from when wearing my open-face lid which doesn't shut much out. Any other suggestions? Brakes - I'm totally happy with the front (chopping bits out of them only reduces braking area?) but even the guy who did the ice run would struggle to lock my rear (ignoring the spikes of course!) Rideout - There's a Harley and Buell day at the Ace Cafe on 30th August, how about a short run down there as an intro? meet at the A1M services at the North end of Baldock, say 10 am for a 10:30 departure? Gives us a chance to plan something more adventurous over a mug o' tea. |

Whip the plastic cover off the gearbox sprocket and check the belt isn't rubbing there - they have been known to. It's easy to space it out a tad with a washer/shim etc. |

Thanks for that Adam - sounds a highly likely cause. I also use the rear to trail brake, and for coming to a controlled stop in traffic, but my rear just won't pull the bike up. No feel of squat at the rear either, but I'm still fettling the suspension set up so that may be having an effect too. |

Can you try and explain the sound; is it chattering, squealing or something else. |
