just spent an afternoon taking apart my M2 carb to give it a bit of clean, after a recommendation by Maz to relieve some of the tickly cough my new bike developed. It does seem to be running a better now, cheers Maz.

really quite proud of myself to be honest as i had never done anything to a carb before. (also thanks to mr buell for everything being accessible and and i'm massively impressed with the detail in the manual etc.)

all went back together nicely, but just at the very last tightening of the last nut... the one that holds the enrichener to little mounting tangs on the frame. i snapped the assembly where the smaller diameter threaded section meets the larger diameter part. the bit that provides the adjustable resistance now comes out with the knob when you pull it, and the thing just springs back.

any suggestions for a quick bodge until my new bit appears from 'merica?

Ah, the dreaded fragile hollow plastic threaded bit with the massive 17mm across-the-flats nut?...
No.
Just hang it in a tywrap cradle so that it doesn't dangle, you should manage to squeeze it to the off position OK with one hand whilst riding even though it's not fixed rigidly.
And the new one... no tools, OK? ;)

Or do what I always did with my MG midget and clip a clothes peg on it ;)
