Hubless wheels on the 1190 - what's that then? And no, Google didn't clear it up any |

Dunno where you read that Clive, but I suspect it's summut to do with the perimeter disc not needing a chunky hub for the braking forces, and as such, not a true hubless wheel (which would be crap) more like an elegant solution to a problem that doesn't really exist |

Taken from the SadBook posting: Introducing the new EBR 1190SX EBR now adds another American pure bred to its stable with the launch of the much anticipated 1190SX, recently unveiled at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 1190SX is an aggressively styled street fighter, sharing much of its unique features from the 1190RX but with the adoption of an upright seating position and a more naked style to that of the fully faired 1190RX. Features include the unique perimeter disc brake and hub less wheels which already make this American built machine unique to it’s competitors. Further details of the 1190SX will soon be released and enquiries will be taken. |

Isn't it that if you take the bearings and the spacer out there is no join between the bearing carriers? Someone has probably taken a finite element model and deleted all the green coloured stuff... |

So on an XB wheel, the spokes connect to a clump of metal that has a hole through the middle for the bearings and spacer. The 1190 has twin spokes that go from the rim to the bearing flange, one on each side. The bearing flanges are not connected together. I am wondering what will happen when the bearing wear combined with crushed spacers cos the bearing flanges could be pulled together putting stress on the spokes... |

Oookkkkkkk....I'm looking at the picture of the 1190 and the wheel looks like it has got a 'lump' in the middle of the wheel that the spokes go to. It's smaller - is that the flange? If so, what's the difference other than the size? |
