Its been a few weeks since the Buell's seen daylight, in fact, other than fitting more carbon, some dual compound grips, new Carbon Lorriane pads and some adjustable pegs, I've done bugger all.. as I'm not qualified in Buell ownership yet... So I thought I'd put the key in and see what happens.. clunk, clunk, bang, pop,pop,bang...braaaaaaph. pop! shed full of smoke, neighbours running for cover, its alive..big grin!!! Now as I prey to the weather gods for the chance of a dry day before the bike seizes up, throws some strange component or worst still becomes unpopular, it might be worth trying to bed those pads in.. Theres still a few jobs more jobs, gearbox OP shaft oiler, lucky to have a lathe and a pretty good tea boy(dad) at my disposal, unless Maz has a change of heart and will send mail order.. nah! think we all know that one... But for the moment it was nice to see the bike in daylight, and know it still works... might not stop thou.... |

Oh dear its broke.. parked in the middle of some major road works, engine management light came on, pop bang dead.. no priming, or starter motor, unable to raise breakdown cover via insurance, so left the bike and got home, 5 phone calls later and 1 email still not heard from insurance company, hope they are faster when I phone later about it being stolen, but then I dont think I'll be that lucky.. Man with a van will help recover it later.. well the longer nights are here and at least I'll have a project to work on... that KTM brochure does look rather good... |

well its in the shed, wrapped up with a limsip and a warm blanket having been parked by the side of the road for a few hours.. battery on charge, connector 77 all good and no funny smells or brittle wiring, so will have to see what happens once the battery is back on.. Thanks for the tips guys, will see what the gods bring for me... |

found it!!! bottom of the ignition switch..! all fuses where good, all connections good, was really starting to think it was going to be in the stator/ecm area's, when I was playing with the switches and noticed no horn or brake light, turned the bars and a flash from the engine management light, another wiggle (highly technical me..) and the whir of the fuel pump was next, a poke and pull on the wiring a press on the start button.. bang! back into life like nothing had ever happened.. So at least I've found the fault, so the ignition will be coming out to see if the wiring can be fixed or just replace the unit, but at least I found it and before to much heart ache.. Thanks for all the pointers guys, and giving me faith in a very helpful forum! |

NickyB, Glad that you found the fault. It's always good to find a solution that doesn't cost too much! Dave |

Must the same poor quality switch as fitted to the 1125s I had a wire break off about 10mm from the solder joint, luckily for me it happened in the pits as I pulled back out of my space and turned the bars. At least I knew which area to look at. Glad you found it |
