Hi Folks / - anybody had experience of using Camcoat Warrington for Ceramic coating of the standard Ully Exhaust unit?

Any reccomendations ?

I started out with nothing and still got most of it left.

Most reputable places won't touch a used set. Too hard to properly clean and prep for a lasting job. Needs to pickled and passivated to remove all the shit out of the metal that leeched in over time. Most places just blast it visually clean. Not good enough.

On that note, I did have a new set coated black that didn't last either. Something to do with it being good for up to 2000 F but wasn't developed to durable for anything other than stationary equipment that isn't blasted with road debris that will wear it away and expose base metal. Didn't know any better at the time. I just wanted a black exhaust that wouldn't bake my leg.

My ceramic coated pipes have lasted the life of the bike (1998 S1) including much winter abuse.
They are a bit chipped and the coating has almost worn through in a few places due to my polishing them, but overall pretty good nick still.

The underslung mild steel mufflers get a pelting for stones etc. so even if the camcoat was applied to a well prepped surface, the writing will always be on the wall...

I used Zircotec, rubbish on my steel header rust is there, not happy
