Post subject:  winter storage

Just a quick question now I have my buell my aprillia is having a rest in the house my question is regarding fuel and injection system is it best to drain completely or best to run bike with fuel and stabiliser in it before storage and leave it in the system it's in my house so no condensation problems.
any ideas guys?.

I'd drain the tank and then run the engine up till it stops of of fuel starvation. It will stop any fuel going off with age, and will stop any spontanious combustion due to fuel sweating when it's warm. :D I don't think the house insurance will pay out when all thats left are embers and a bike with a tank full of fuel was the culprit ;)

Yeah, not like the frame will corrode in the house either.

I'd lift the tyres off the ground if it's going to be sitting for a long time too. Also, change the engine oil now rather than leaving it sit with the old oil in. Actually, full service, filters, and fix all the niggles and leave the battery on an optimiser, so when you're ready to jump on it again it's tyre pressure and fresh fuel and good to go.
