Just put a few feelers out for trading my 1125 in against a Ducati (I actually really like the bike but owning one is extremely frustrating because you can't get any information about them and there's a continual worry about what's going to go wrong next) and the best I've been offered is £3.5K. That means having the bike has cost me £10 per day  Bargain eh?

Part-exing is never going to give you the return of a private sale though Adam?
And are Ducatis any more reliable really? :sun:
I've heard (and read) you get good and bad with them too.
I paid more for my Firebolt when I bought it with 1900 on the clock than that....

Si.

My 1125 goes to the Dealers for Warranty stuff approx every 1000 miles  Even an old air cooled 900 Desmo Duc was far more reliable than that. The latest generation of Ducs, according to a few people I know that own them, as opposed to hearsay, are as good as anything on the market - and they're a known quantity, you can pick up a phone and speak to an Italian version of Maz :o for advice ;)

I think the word you'd need to look for would be "cavolo". :D

Adam,

The guys at Forza Italia at Silverstone are really good, if you are after a Ducati. However the problem might be the trade-in . However, I have never had an offer in trade-in that I haven't felt insulted by !!

Interestingly, I had ideas of selling the Duke. I've just spent the last few evenings returning to std so I can get it registered here ...
A realistic (low) rate for a 998s here would be around 15 k CHF ... which is approx 8.5 k GBP Which means 500 quid depreciation a year ! :yup:

Mind you a new one costs a little more than the UK!!

Sorry, peps, but they do make great sports bikes ....

I've had a few test rides over at Forza Italia and they have been 'molto bene'.

Bubble wrap it, it might be worth a few quid in twenty + years. Shocking what! :headbang: Still a feckin smokin bike though and I love it.

Ah! the joys of beta-testing the Buell range.... [I've done that too :oooops: ]

Why not just buy a Ducati as well.... ?

I just might, 3.5 is taking the piss  In fact, if that's what it's worth with all the updates, then I'd much rather wait and let someone on here have for that money, instead of a dealer 8-)

I got more than £3500 for my 55 plate 8K Uly in feb from DG20 in px for the CR, a point to remember is that "The BOOK" eg Glasses guide is exactly that, a guide. accepting a low value for your bike in PX is effectively devaluing the brand as a whole. I can't buy Mini coopers for my site for book money, they fetch at least £500 more and most other brands are the same at the minute as new sales are hard work, I don't think bikes are that different? I'm pretty sure there is still a shortage of used Bike stock out there too. Sell it privately and do yourself and the rest of the owners a favour, used bike sales for a HD dealership still count, sooner or later they will notice that they're not selling used Buells because they fetch more privately and realize they're maybe missing a trick?

Rant over

and I've been drinking again!
