Only just gone and brought a firebolt. 120 mile trip home and I love it already. Any tips on owning it? TIA

Just remember that it's basically an old pushrod motor from the 1950's, needs a bit more mechanical sympathy than a "modern" bike (but not too much more) :P

Cheers for that. What's the deal with the headlights. Awful. Boardering on dangerous. Any tips about this would be great.

'Style over substance'.
The really annoying and unhelpful usual answer to this is that you should've bought a tuber with the standard 7" searchlight on the front. Like I did, and it's great. :sun:

As I said, annoying, unhelpful, but true. lOl

there was a recall on them (fire bolt headlights) as the silvering on the reflectors was coming off..may be worth trying a HD dealer , but not sure if they would honour it , worth a call though :?:

as has been mentioned above they were never great at night TBH

Going to look into some HiD things or something. It's really bad.

I had HIDs on my Firebolt and although they were bright, they dazzled other drivers and one of the transformers failed one night switching from dip to full to dip in some dark lanes. After that, I swapped them out.

If I go out at night, I take the S1 or the X1.

There is a guy on here with a Firebolt that had HIDs. His HIDs destroyed the reflectors...

Yeah, I just read that. Won't be doing that then.

Does changing to LED's make a difference?

Only got the one bike I'm afraid. It almost needs a daytime MOT it's so bad.

You could try to stick some aluminium tape on the inside and polish it before.
Have read some good results!

I never used to understand why people found the Firebolt headlights so bad, they weren't great but never found them awful. Quite often used to go out for rides late at night when the country roads were empty. Cheddar gorge is good in the daylight, but even better at night! But I'd only ever ridden bikes. I got a car and didn't ride the bike for about a year, then took it to work 1 afternoon, and when I came home that night I pulled over 'cos I thought the lights had broken! After getting used to the car, even main beam on the 'bolt seems pathetic.

I bought a 2nd front faring to see about fitting some Jap style headlights to see if they were any better, something like this:

Haven't got round to it yet as there's a lot of other bits I need to do to the car and bike/trike.
