I have a XB12S and mine are crap, especially at lower revs it gets better above 3K revs, but still not good.

Maybe it's something you get used to coz mine are ok when moving but you are correct when standing still.....Can't see a bloody thing.

They sell loads of Rizoma mirrors, really nice quality and fit a treat ...

click on Rizoma parts link in the middle then on mirrors ...

sorry - a bit late seeing this. must have been fuzzy in my Ss stock mirrors....

Stock are crap on S's. Bar ends seem to stay smooth (CRG, Oberon, etc). Many seem to like function and look of Tuono mirrors. Rizoma make good ones, too, as noted. Bar ends help me see past my shoulders, and I think the look is cleaner. CRG make "lane-splitter" models that fold in.
If I had the spare cash, I would love to put on Oberons, with their bar-end LED indicators as well. 8-)

Because quite often all I can see in both mirrors is a Landcruiser radiator grill

I said I found a photo, not that I love them or have them!
I run Motrax mirrors:

a ringer for crg's, abut at a fraction of the cost. They work perfectly, and look good, too.

But, unlike the retro Napoleons, they stick out and might pose a problem for lane splitting.

Triumph offer Rizoma type bar end mirrors for less than the Rizoma. I think it's part # A9638030.

Here's a link to where I saw these mirrors, and a how-to for mounting them on an SV650 (has 7/8" bars). Looks pretty simple.
