Has anyone re-anodized any of their XB parts? just been stripping more of the black paint that the previous owner had liberally applied to the rear frame rails and tail light surround and there are a few spots that dont look the best! question is do I get them painted (im changing the colour at the moment anyway) powdercoated ( i have a powdercoater who I use regularly for the chops) or re-anodized

I want them to stay the same goldish colour they are now I think as im not intending doing the wheels as they are fine as is the motor......

has anyone had it done and had good results? any idea on the official colour code?

If the powder coater can find a colour match you're happy with I'd go that way. Anodising means dipping the parts in an acid solution and depending how porous the casting is this can go wrong pretty quickly. The seat rails and tail piece are cast items. Make sure they are bead blasted and not shot blasted shot is ok on steel items. It's too severe on ally castings :yup:

ok thanks, i will have a word with my painter and the local anodizer first to see if he can match the colour I think.
Powder coating concerns me due to the extra thickness of the material, it would need to be removed around all mounting areas to ensure correct fitment allowing the ally underneath to then chorode again possibly

There would be no problem with having the side rails and tail powder coated ,have done the same with two xb lighting tails and side rails and everything still fitted fine!
Only places you have to undo from coating are the mounting points that connect to the frame.

You want a thicker coating because the cast alloy has small holes everywhere.

my painter came over last night and had a look, he is going to paint them but change the colour so they are the same as the rest of the frame, the tank, nose piece and chin spoiler are all going a Audi colour, Nano Grey, which i have used on a couple of bikes in the last couple of years and looks really nice.

Ill update some pics when done in the next couple of weeks!

Nicer than the Volcano Grey IMO. And would look stellar against the orange frame of an M2.:yup:

Dragged it out today, waiting on the front guard as we decided late to paint that as well!
