Clutch basket bearing or mainshaft/5th outer needle race ?

If the former, your wallet will be OK, if the later, you're bike is a write off.

well the front pulley sprocket moves about like its on a rubber shaft so is that the fifth gear bearing?.and the clutch could be a related problem or a seperate self desruct mechanism that buell installed :headbang:

,,good to see your sense of humour is bearing up Panth,,,this scenario you're facing now is the reason I sold my Firedbolt, and kept the X1,,,I had the good sense to actually listen to what Maz had to say on the subject,,,all this dosn't help you any I know, and my heartfelt condolences for your situation,

,,,and yes, I DID actually LOVE my Firebolt, Maz and myself had many "words" on the subject, but common engineering sense won the day, and I sold my beloved Firebolt (I bought her brand new, first new bike I'd had since '77),,,I still have my X1, a cracking bike,,,but as far as I have seen these last few years,,still a fucking ticking timebomb,,,if only the bloody thing wasn't soooooooooo fantastic to ride !!!,,,that would have been sacrificed at the alter of "common sense",,and I would be back on an old Triumph or Beeza a year ago

,,,like many others here, Buell has left an unpleasant taste in my mouth,,and it isn't really Erik's fault as far as I can see, his dream and story is one of a true hero to my mind, it's just "corporate buisiness" got in the way/enabled it all to happen,,,one of those things I guess,,,fuckin' "bean-counters" rule the world, and have for some time,,,,as a wise man once commented,,, "NOoooooooo fuckin' soul whatsoever!"

,,,really hope the "Muses" work for you on this one fella,,,

:yup: :worthy: wise words

most Harley riders i know spanner there own .
but remember the Buell /sportster is different motor to most big Harleys TBH
an the standard Sporty has a lot less power than the Buell
so less stress ..
