underneath the rider seat on the CR is a bit of extra space that could be useful for a bit of extra storage.

so i made some pins up out of stainless bolts by cutting the head off, drilling a hole for a split pin, or 'R' pin (when i get some)

the pin is 30mm long with equal lengths of plain, and threaded, and the pin hole is 5mm from the end of the plain section.

American Sportbike sell these as a kit - like everybody else I've been meaning to make my own - but like the kit I will also be using a bolt to help secure the pegs just to help stop them vibrating loose. These pegs are a good idea as the inserts in the rear frame aren't very robust !

I've also been thinking of making more fasteners with thumbscrews to replace some of the torx bolts that hold on the bodywork - it can be a pain getting some of them off and on when checking coolant level - especially with a hot exhaust !

But I need to buy another lathe to do that, as I had to get rid of my last one - something small that I can move around ...

i didnt bother with lock nuts as i used loctite. still havent finished it off properly, but i might be able to make up a few more pins sometime.

im looking for better 'R'pins, or if i can get to a chandlers, and find the pins that have an end that fold over in 6mm, then thread them. cant think of the name of them ffs :headbang:

Try a large agricultural supplier. Farmers use those type of pins ;)
