1125r,are they free of niggles yet?

Post subject:  1125r,are they free of niggles yet?
I know it`s bit of a vague/general question,but I honestly think a sorted 1125r would suit me, I spoke to Steve at BB today,but with all do respect Steve as much as I respect your opinion your job is to sell em :| Is the 09 model better and less problematic than a 08.I have taken little notice of this model so far but I feel now I have taken the X1 as far as I can whilst still keeping it reliable,so what are the differences between 08 and 09s?
I know I have probably opened a can of worms and myself to a mountain of abuse but what the hell :eat:

The only out standing issue is whether the latest clutch slave unit is fitted yet in later '09 models, or maybe they're just fitted to the 2010 models? Unless this new mechanism is fitted the clutch will eventually leak.
There's quite a few subtle differences between the '08 and the '09, clutch cover, improved instrument cluster (less misting up), fork internals, injectors, fuel tank insulation, throttle bodies etc, etc
Don't think the rear shock has been improved but it looses it's damping reasonably quickly if used hard. Needs an AST ;)

.....and no way would an 1125 ever win best Buell at Em's day....or anywhere else for that matter :roll:

Thanks Adam,think I`ve got a mate who could sort me a AST out ;) Steve, Adam has just mentioned at least five or six differences between earlier and later models,but are these improvements worth the 2.5k saving when you buy a used 08 model? Are the later clutches a retro fit?I`ve had misting dial issues with a new Ducati and that really pissed me off :twisted: Seems like it`s a bit of a :maz: X1 issue,"get an 2001model,all the problems sorted" says I with a 2000 X1 :roll:

Fair point :maz: but the X1 is limited to one track to do trackdays on(due to the stupid noise regs on the tracks in this country),and after being back on track after two years I`d forgot how much I enjoyed them, I really need to spend a few hours on a 1125 to see if I can really let the X1 go.......

In that case, if you wanna LC twin, I'd go test ride a SuperDuke.....far superior to Buells offering IMO :o

So is a Aprilas tuono,most Ducatis and a dozen other bikes,but what would I do with all my Tshirts :lol:

Ok I get the point,gonna have to think what I can do to the X1 over the winter to keep me out of mischief,cam case cut and an oil line re-route,instrument changes,NOS, may be a whole new paint scheme :idea:

All very valid points. There are a good few tasty alternative V twins out there as well. The way the Helicon motor gives up its power is very, very nice. There's plenty of torque whatever rpm the motor is doing 8-)

With no brand loyalty at all, I would definately take 1125 motor over a Tuono motor, I still really am impressed with how the power was delivered.......role on 1125 Ully (as long as there's no wheel bearing issues!!) :lol:

Interesting that you bring this subject up, after us both seeing an (actually two) 1125r(s) in France being ragged within an inch of it's life with no complaints from the rider and no sign of dripping fluids...
