I have a 2006 XB12X which has been off the road for some time but is going back on it soon. It has 20,000 miles on it. Is the oil pump drive gear update essential?

On Badweb some guys are saying that the 2006 Ulysses had the bronze gear, but I don't think so. Otherwise why would it need upgrading?

Any thoughts, anyone.

They're correct, IIRC.

So it doesn't need upgrading, then?

Depends on how long you want the engine to last

Hopefully should not, BUT worth visually check it for type ie bronze one fitted and any signs of wear
Apparently this can be done by dropping oil pump and inserting a bore scope ( these you can get of eBay for a few quid that connect to your phone)

What Ho Nick, long time no hear. Hope all is well with you 8-) In answer to your question, you can check the gear by dropping the oil pump out, but I don't think a bore scope is essential (always handy though) you can probably see it with a torch 8-)

The 2006 models did have an upgraded gear, but they still wear! Mine was getting very thin at 35k so l had it done just in time? :?
