Ash wrote: apparently diesel oil is roughly the same as HD's standard stuff Not sure that should be true. Originally the difference between a diesel specific oil and on that was designed for a petrol vehicle was the strength of the buffer. Older style indirect injection diesels used to contaminate their own oil with sulphuric acid and therefore the oil had a better ability to buffer acids before it started to eat into the metal of the engine. I don't see why HD would specify that sort of addative package for their oil. I am open to correction here. By the way I'm not sure, now that direct injection is more common with diesel engines, that they still have or need the same addative package. |

Morris Oils have told me the XHD Diesel oil is EXACTLY the same as their 'V Twin' specific oil only in different packaging. I'd happily use it but I can get the 'V Twin' stuff at Trade price from a mate who buys loads of oil off them for his Plant machinery business. Download the Tech Spec sheets from the Morris Oils website and you'll find the oils are the same. When I was racing a lot, I used to blag the odd case of their MLR Castor oil for nowt, they're an excellent company to deal with and will happily answer questions on the phone ![]() All the grasstrack boys in these parts use their oil. |

What Adam said is reassuring - gonna give it a go in the M2 and Harley as it never seems to be in there for long anyway. Ps - where were you Don? you missed a great do at the Walesby international! |

Morris of Shrewsbury ain't cheap friend! Morrisons the grocers maybe! Yes I would use any Morris' of Shrewsbury product correct for the application any day over any other choice! I was imformed that the oils ability to hold particles in suspension was a plus for hot air cooled engines with a small volume of oil etc. There is a gallon of the V-twin here wanting a good home! Morris Oil has been the choice of the Rolls Royce factory and at one time, VW as well. It's as good as any of the big names. |
