I have had it with my old boots. They leak so much I think that they actually attract any water thats around. A couple of people have suggested Sidi Black Rains. Anyone got any comments about these or suggestions for new booties Cheers |

Buy a cheap pair of any old shite and then order a pair of Altbergs. Waterproof, comfey, reasonably priced.  The only time my Altbergs have left me with wet feet is when it has rained so hard that my waterproofs have failed catastrophically and the boots have filled up with rain that has run down my legs.  (That was RAIN and not any other fluid!)

For the next eight years I did over 10,000 miles a year in all weathers. When I bought my second pair of Altbergs I took the original ones back to be refurbished at a cost of £40 and they were returned to me looking like new. I still wear them and, if I can be bothered, they still clean up like new. |

Hello, I have used sidi black rain for years now and I find them excellent, comfy waterproof and well made. The only issue I have is the zip tags broke after 2 years and about 6000 miles in all weather, the zips still work though. If you are thinking of buying them then get the size above, I'm a size 8 but had to buy a 9 and even that size is quite snug (not tight.) I have also been knocked off of a bike wearing these boots at low speed and they faired very well saving my shins and ankles from injury, they just needed a polish to look good again. Highly recommended!! hope this helps. |

I use Altberg's as well, had mine about 4 years now and they are excellent. I have the Bandog All weather boots

if you want chaeaper... try a pair of Oxford Bone dry boots. Cost me about £40 at the bike show, aboutthe same elsewhere now. Just done 1100 miles in the pissing rain over the bank holiday and my feet stayed...bone dry. Not the best looking boots but hay whos lookin ? |

Gor-tex Army boot liners, £10, always warm and dry. Cant be beat if your on a budget. |

Daytona or BMW touring boots are excellent for daily use. If your budget is limited (it will be since you own a Buell  ) save on a motorbike-suit (buy something cheap & cheerful from HG) but always spend as much as you can on boots and gloves

Sidi Race Boots- very narrow, made of synthetic leather, which is not a problem. But I would trust it's resistance to abrasion .... I have some Daytona Winners - ok I have some HG race boots - for the price, I'm not sure you can beat them. the quality is getting worse with time though (it's my third pair, and I got these is a sale) I have HG Stunt boots - like a short MX boot. They are great. The current boot of choice Sidi Couriers - worn twice, leather, comfy but buckling them up makes me feel like I an going to a bondage party. As bit of a faff , so I put the aboves on instead !! |

They need a lot of Nixwax, or other conditioner/waterproofer, to soften them up and they only have a part waterproof liner from new. I find they are a great boot (tough, comfy and long lasting) but the lack of gear change feel is something you need to get used to. They do get better with use though. A bit like a Buell I guess  .I had a pair of Altberg touring boots and they were the worst bike boots I ever had. The liner went two days from new, they had a strange fit for me and Velcro tab system never worked very well. I binned them in the end because they fecked me off so much. £120 down the drain so was not very happy. Other types may be better but Sidi are hard to beat IMO. |

I use Altberg's as well, had mine about 4 years now and they are excellent. I also have the Bandog All weather boots the only time they have let water in was in the Alps when the rain was so hard it nipped thru my goretex!!! The only way I could have got wetter was to have fallen in one of the lakes. They knock mirrors off well also
