03, I tried Optimating the Odyssey battery over several days but it's a gonner so I've ordered another one. :(

I've just received the Buell OEM metal base rocker gasket from Twin Motorcycles BV. Does it matter which way it goes in as it seems symmetrical but one of the faces is recessed and one is protruding. A newbie question I know. :coat:

I don't know if they're any good but I have seen Motobat batteries on Fleabay recently for about sixty quid.

Toss up between Motobatt and Odyssey but went for the Odyssey Extreme 545 in the end as I have had one before. It was £15 dearer than the Motobatt but seems more advanced. I've done the rocker gaskets. Just need to finish deep cleaning the carb and then time to try and get her started.

Result! She fired up pretty much straight away. :D

Running rough though. Won't stay running unless on half choke at around 1500 revs. Even then hiccups and farts fairly often. I took out the idle mixture screw on the deep clean so will try tweaking that. Change the oil tomorrow and then on to replacing the head bearings. Finished by Xmas. lOl

Further investigation revealed a torn accelerator pump diaphram and a split manifold gasket. Runs sweet now. Just noticed a fork oil leak so looking to send those up to Maz for an overhaul. Gotta take 'em off anyway as about to do the head bearings. Never done these before so a little apprehensive. Especially as it's gonna be a hammer and chisel job as I don't have pullers.
