This ride was for the purpose of the video, I only live around the corner. Any other time I always wear gloves. ;)

I cut the muffler from just rearwards of the 2 mount straps, you may be able to wiggle the inside secton out if your lucky, but I wasn't as when pipe was fitted at the factory the tension on the starps crushed the outer housing making removal difficult! I just cut the seam on the under side all the way, then with some flat blade srew drivers pried it open enough to slide the insides out!! Yeha!
Next I rewelded the seam I had cut open, paying attention to align it all up nicely. Next I sat the cut open end of the muffler on a piece of 3mm steel(I only had some stainless so thats what I used) I roughly cut the piece out. I went to my local auto parts store and bought a 2 and half inch stainless steel exhauts tip. I cut the end of the tip on an angle to suit how I wanted it to look. I then marked out on the flat steel where I wanted to mount it. I used a drill to drill around were the outlet would be then cleaned up the hole with some files. I then welded the outlet into position then welded the flat sheet with the outlet onto the exhaust body. I then cleaned up all the the welds the painted with some high temp stove paint. There is no baffling in the muffler whatsoever! aparantly the early drummers were done that way. I believe mine looks and sounds awesome
I have not done any tuning to it yet, My ealier attempt popped really bad on deceleration! this one just lets out a few power feels really stong through the low to midrange which is how a Buell should be. Oh I also just removed the cable off the exhaust valve, I did not modify that in any way.

Joe, I've played about with cans on X1's and found that completely gutting them tends to knock a hole in the midrange torque and only gives a very small (and not worthwhile) increase at high revs.
Have you done any development using a Dyno?
