I know it’s been mentioned before but I’m not good at finding it🤭 I know there are two size sprocket/pulleys and I know you can swap and change them but can’t remember what advantage or disadvantage they have. If someone could point me in the right direction please.

US gearing 27/61 for a tube frame Buell
lowers top speed increases accleration, makes that torque come out to play
or the half/half withthe UK on the front & US61 on the rear however it will effect your speedo
just search US gearing

 indeed :yup:

I am running 1/2 US gearing , I have a Sportster rear pulley which was modified by Pete :worthy:
he opened the central hole which now fits the Buell wheel
makes a real noticable difference , so full US gearing would be even better

That's very informative and thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Is there a significant difference on traveling at slow speed in traffic, ie: feeling you have to slip the clutch to slow down?

I've got full US gearing on Muffin and it's far better around town and for hooning around , only time it's not as good as standard is if you have long motorway blasts at high speed . On the X1 you need to change the speedo or put a speedo healer on to correct the reading on yours.

70 MPH highway all day long is only 3600 rpms with US gearing and a 170 rear tire on the X1. I find that to be the sweet spot for cruising and it's also the best balanced at that rpm. I'd consistently gotten right at 50 mpgs when I was using the Buells for trips all over north America (pre-ethanol blends) and that was with the full race kit and 536 cams. But our roads are mostly straight and flat which helps achieve that efficiency.

Why so low of a final drive ratio? You doing hill climbs? Pulling a camper?
