Good thinking. The 1190 engine is what, a 15 or 16 year old design developed originally as the 1125 (first sold in 2008 so a three year development time would make it that age)? Whilst I am absolutely OK with motor designs far older, the modern 200bhp sports bike market moves on way too quickly for 16 year old tech to cut the mustard? The business is far too small to be anything other than a minor boutique bike builder? (Nothing wrong with that). It seems they have ambitious plans which is great. But it needs a lot of money and there's none available? Anyhow, I do wish Bill Melvin all the best. Most of us thought he would just sell everything off and close the company down.

Not seeing anything that excites me. Seems like EBR have acquired the rights to the Buell name and are just trading as Buell Motorcycles. Models listed are the 1190RX and 1190SX with small changes to bodywork and colours, the 1190HCR which seems to have been built as a one off and won the 2020 AMA National Hill Climb Championship (guess they'll build them to order if they have any takers) and the 1190 Super Touring scheduled for launch in 2023 but with an accessory luggage kit for the SX available later this year. I have been blown away by the level of ignorance shown by American posters on Facebook (foolish of me I know ) who seem to have no knowledge of the brand or it's history and seem to be totally fabricating their own fantasies as truth. In case anyone here holds similar preconceptions, don't expect to see a relaunched tuber or parts support for any Buells pre 2009 apart from the odd 1125 part which crosses over with the 1190. Erik Buell has also posted a statement on Facebook to the effect that it's nothing to do with him. I wish them all the best but see next to nothing happening in the US and considerably less than that in Europe Steve

There have been some amazingly misinformed posts on the fb, it's hard to grasp some people's stupidity. Anyways I'm not sure where "Buell Motorcycles " are heading, will they keep putting out the odd 1190 for a while? The v twin is now hopelessly outdated (still a good motor though) , not really a good time to re launch a motorcycle brand, especially with the way Buell are perceived by the general biking populace. I'm no business consultant but I'd have thought they'd need to be well on the way with a v4 sports bike and probably an electrical bike I don't see a 15 year old v twin cutting it. And whatever they do there will still be idiots around thinking they are still powered by Harley lumps.

I sort of had a feeling that was the situation from previous reading. But whoever is promoting a new ‘Buell’ using the previous 1190 motor would have to be looking at a niche product, but hoping for a healthy niche or slice of an enthusiast market. Not everyone cares about V4s or having 200bhp. The V twin is the purest form of motorcycle engine, if only because it is better than a single in giving twice the bang for the buck and twice the smoothness while fitting inside a similarly slim crankcase. Having said all that, when bike magazine tested an 1190 alongside an equivalent Ducati they said that the Buell....sorry EBR was a better bike to ride. However given the choice of actually buying they would buy the Ducati. That seems to be the attitude of most bikers. l am more likely to ask myself what I would buy if l was the last person on the planet (probably an RE350 so l could scavenge around for remaining fuel stocks! ) and didn’t need to impress anyone else or worry about resale values. And even today pre or post Covid, it’s not like they are handing out medals for having the fastest bike when l stop for a cafe break on a Sunday ride out! Would l buy a new 1190? A hypocritical no perhaps, but l might buy any bits l could fit or adapt for my old Buell. The next bike l buy is likely to be home designed and built with someone else’s infernal engine.....if We are still allowed to ride such things.
