Looking to buy another XB12Ss. Will hopefully just need servicing, tyre changes, that sort of thing but I know from experience that that, for example, the belt has to be adjusted spot on or it will snap. Also, the loom needs inspecting regularly to look for chafing from bad routing and the vibes that come from the high comp motor. Also the early XBs suffered from bad quality wheel bearings, not sure when that was sorted.
I was in Southampton HD a few weeks ago and they don’t currently have any techs with Buell experience. I know a local guy with Buell experience (ex HD) but he doesn’t like working on them. Hence my problem!

the belt isn't adjustable, but you can buy the Freespirits tensioner that helps lessen the stress on it
belts can be damaged by tyre fitters if they aren't carefull , & the front & rear spindles are hollow so need copper greasing or they sieze , the front is left handed thread , the rear is normal but has a pinch bolt underneath...
the XB range all have a small bearing size , to keep the weight down probably, requires regular changing , i had an XBR they were lasting 6000m but I aint twiggy...
get them from a proper bearing supplier , not cheap online as there are sadly fake bearings about

the later XB had three bearings in the rear wheel , suppose this was to help spread the load.

always read loads before buying , & take a mate when you view too
as a dispasionate set of eyes can save you an expensive mistake , or spot a good bargaining lever

Bike now bought. Over the moon I am. Exactly what I’ve been looking for. 09 Low mileage XB12Ss in Cherrybomb red. Has the Free spirits belt tensioner fitted and a Remus can. Will post pictures when I have some.
