Saw this on Ebay and decided I had to have it, 2001 US import, low mileage only 6660  and totally standard, it's going to need a good going over and some upgrades but the bones of it are excellent......and I've got shed loads of spares

Bike prices are pretty stagnant at the moment. Their are a lot of bargains to be had, but they are only any use if you are gonna use them. :yup:

Thanks for all the positive comments, I do indeed intend to ride it, I've missed the grunt of a decent road bike since my other one became track only,
I've got an SV650 which is exclusively for commuting and grocery getting but it just too bland for anything else
I'm hoping to start with this year's DGR 🤞and maybe even a couple of our own events.
I'm just concentrating on getting it put right at the moment as well as looking after the race bike and retro fitting a diesel heating system to my van .....etc,etc,etc

Started stripping and cleaning it this weekend, front tyre fitted the wrong way, dodgy repairs to the indicator stalks, bread box air cleaner was plastic welded in about ten bits, worse thing was the fuel hose and inlet to the carb, the plastic bit was broken off and the hose shoved on to the little brass spigot,
The seal between the carb and manifold was split too.
I haven't removed the wheels yet but the rear seems a bit stiff to turn it looks like it's badly out of alignment ;)

Are you going by the direction arrows on the sidewall or by how the tread looks, Gordon? ...there was a front tyre out a few years back that looked all wrong chevron-wise, opposite to how you'd expect, and also to car tyre treads of the time... it was discussed on here IIRC.

No mate, direction of rotation arrow, it's got a mega sticky ex-race tyre complete with bobbles and stones stuck to it and a big trail/off road effort on the rear, the old boy I bought it off said he'd fitted them to get it through the mot
