Hi everybody, I'm new. My name is Monty and I'm a Buellaholic. I've just bought a 1125R and would like some help please. Which are the best tyres and which oil should I use? The O/E Pirelli's are great, I just wondered if anyone could recommend a sports/touring pair? Also, would Silkolene Super 4 Semi/Synthetic oil be ok? Kind regards, Monty. |

Monty, Contrary to the banner photo on top of this forum, there is probably more info about 1125's (as well as an overdose of far-right political vitriol) on the US Buell site, bad weather bikers: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/m ... 1253714742 is to their forum on 1125's. or http://www.buelletinboard.com for bikes w/o the politics. the problem is, you'll have to see tyre spelled with an i all the tyme ![]() Otherwise, welcome - seemingly not as many 1125 owners in the UK... or at least, not on this forum, which is otherwise populated by a bunch of nice, Tourrettes-type people fuck off. |

Maybe I made a hasty reply, but your moniker and the subject matter suggested a wind up that I thought I'd politely nip in the bud. ![]() |

Oh you lovely bunch, thank you for the welcome and all of your suggestions. I will take a look at the Bud Wether Bakers site and see if I can stomach the bad grammar and lazy spelling of our cousins across the pond. But, Does anyone here have any advice on the tyres and oil? It was a real question. At the risk of appearing a bit rubbish, I think sports/touring tyres are all that I need on a bike. That and I'm a bit tight! A few extra miles on a set of tyres is more important to me than how sticky my 2" wide chicken strip is. Which is why I asked about the oil, as I just happen to have some stuff in the garage, left to me by my great grandfather, that needs using. |

conti road attacks, or michelin pilot road 2's. but the pirellis should get you going just fine as well. Anything you think is wrong with them? 20w50 v-twin oil - the 1125 manual recommends synthetic for the Rotax engine. Mobil 1 makes an excellent v-twin 20w50; Harley "Screamin' Eagle" (you see where all the "spellin' 'n stuff" comes from on bedwetterbikes...........) syn-3 is of course what the manual says, but they would have to, wouldn't they? I don't know all the available brands in the uk; in the states, Amsoil, Royal Purple cycle max, and Mobil 1 are the preferred. |
